Why spend all of that $$$ on makeup remover when you can make it at home with the ingredients in your kitchen?! Not to mention all of the fillers, dyes and preservatives that are involved in store bought beauty products. This recipe is quick and simple to throw together, will last you weeks and gently removes the toughest makeup (trust me I wear a lot of mascara)!
You Will Need-
3/4 cup of distilled water (so bacteria doesn't form in the container)
1 green tea bag
1 tbsp. of coconut oil
1 tbsp. of almond oil
1 tsp. of witch hazel
2-3 drops of tea tree and lavender essential oil blend
1 small container with a lid
Stack of paper towels cut into small pieces
How to-
1. In a small measuring cup, heat the distilled water until it's boiling hot and then a
dd the green tea and let it steep for 2-3 minutes.
2. In a small bowl mix together the coconut oil, sweet almond oil, witch hazel and essential oils until evenly blended.
3. Mix the oil blend and the green tea together (while it is still warm to help the coconut oil melt down).
4. Add the complete mixture to your container, making sure it is evenly distributed all the way toward the bottom of the paper towels!
5. Secure the container with a lid and store in a cool place!
How the Ingredients Work-
Green Tea- has antimicrobial properties as well as anti-inflammatory and healing benefits
Coconut Oil- contains lauric acid which has antimicrobial properties (fights infection) and removes dirt/oil/makeup without drying/irritating the skin
Sweet Almond Oil- helps to reverse signs of aging and sun damage, hydrates and softens skin, improves tone and complexion, minimizes scarring and removes makeup gently and easily
Witch Hazel- contains antimicrobial properties, anti-inflammatory properties, healing properties, hydrates and is also an astringent (great for acne prone skin)
Tea Tree & Lavender Essential Oil Blend- both have anti-bacterial properties and help to calm the skin and promote healing
