Honey (as we all probably know) is a natural sweetener that comes from the honey bee. According to ycbk.org, it takes about 10,000 worker bees to gather 1 pound of honey. One single bee colony can produce more than 110 pounds!
Honey is mostly made up of sugar therefore is has quite the "unhealthy" reputation. When we eat sugar (sucrose), our stomachs have to use their own enzymes to break down the glucose and fructose. However, bees have already added that enzyme to honey, so the glucose and fructose are much more easily absorbed by the body. Not to mention honey also has a lower GI (glycemic index) which allows for a more gradual/healthier digestive process.
